To celebrate the 1st birthday of Evan, his proud parents Tsui and Eng Lee threw the party at Bakerzin, UE Square.
We were thrilled to have gathered with us out-stationed Small Garoupers with kids in tow. Kim and Simon came with Jonathan and Jillian while Li Yen brought sweet little Ying Ying. This was indeed a rare opportunity to fellowship with our overseas counterparts and others who have moved on to other ministries all in one place at one time.
The photos are testament that God provides and God answers prayers. Small Garoupers has multiplied and is not all that small anymore.
We've come a long way and we've come back.
Thanks Tsui and Eng Lee for organising this party. Happy Birthday Evan Teh!

Annual Retreat and Roles for 2010
We started 2010 with the annual retreat to reflect on our journey thus far, take stock, chart a meaningful course and prayerfully move on.
When thinking about what we want to see in this group for 2010, the three common themes that surfaced were Consistency, Increased Accountability and Increased Depth.
To achieve that, we assigned new roles to Small Garouper members and kept the with the same job scope for some others.

Nonya Makan Fellowship
The food theme of the day was Peranakan, and Nonya spread was spectacular. Dishes were a mix of home cooked and take-away. Victor brought his Babi Pongteh and kway, Yee Ling brought her Rendang and Mei Hsien brought her father-in-law's Buakeluah; there might have been some more home cooked dishes that I missed out. Who brought the mee siam?
We also welcomed an addition to the small garoupers family - little Evan Teh, recently born to the proud parents of Tsui and Eng Lee and looking ... quizzical.
The makan was rounded of with a birthday celebration of April babies, and our babies having a ball of a time.

Christmas Gathering 2008
Tis' the season for giving and Small Garoupers has continued our practice of Gift Exchange yesterday at the function room at Mei Hsien and Adam's place. Thanks guy!
The recipient of our gifts were drawn 2 weeks before hand so that we would have ample time to pick up an appropriate gift. From the looks of it, I think we were all quite happy with what we bagged that day.

We has no chestnuts roasting nonetheless, our cup overflowth and the local-brunch theme spread was indeed a spread. Food and fellowship goes hand in hand as usual.
Also in attendance were new visitors. We had the little ones in tow this Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone and have a blessed new year.

This is how we do it

Small Garoupers celebrated our nth Valentine's Day on 29th Feb with our traditional practice of gift exchange. The basic criteria is firstly, the gift has to be hand made (as far as it is possible) and secondly, the recipient of our gift has been serendipitously drawn by the casting of lots.Except for Gary and Roy who are at-large, we all gathered at the Pearl to tuck into the catered Indonesian cuisine to kick off our time of fellowship.
Click on the picture of our collective ingenuity and cutting-edge creativity to view the notes detailing giver and recipient.

Christmas Party 2007
Thanks to the hospitality of Yee Ling and Kwee Peng, the Small Garoupers Christmas Party 2007 was hosted at The Pearl, Mt Faber.
We had generous pours of good wine, hand crafted desserts, top-notch chicken curry in the midst of the unparalleled company of friends. It was especially delightful to be able to meet again with those who have been away from us and the new addition to our fellowship.
Wishing you all* a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
