Nonya Makan Fellowship

The food theme of the day was Peranakan, and Nonya spread was spectacular. Dishes were a mix of home cooked and take-away. Victor brought his Babi Pongteh and kway, Yee Ling brought her Rendang and Mei Hsien brought her father-in-law's Buakeluah; there might have been some more home cooked dishes that I missed out. Who brought the mee siam?

We also welcomed an addition to the small garoupers family - little Evan Teh, recently born to the proud parents of Tsui and Eng Lee and looking ... quizzical.

The makan was rounded of with a birthday celebration of April babies, and our babies having a ball of a time.

Christmas Gathering 2008

Tis' the season for giving and Small Garoupers has continued our practice of Gift Exchange yesterday at the function room at Mei Hsien and Adam's place. Thanks guy!

The recipient of our gifts were drawn 2 weeks before hand so that we would have ample time to pick up an appropriate gift. From the looks of it, I think we were all quite happy with what we bagged that day.

Fellowship BBQ

Thanks to Tsui for sourcing our BBQ supplies from City Satay and to Yee Ling who opened up her place to us, we had yet another time of food and fellowship at The Pearl. Topping the night was the celebration of Cindy's birthday and the appearance of our new member, Kairos Marican.

This is how we do it

Small Garoupers celebrated our nth Valentine's Day on 29th Feb with our traditional practice of gift exchange. The basic criteria is firstly, the gift has to be hand made (as far as it is possible) and secondly, the recipient of our gift has been serendipitously drawn by the casting of lots.

Except for Gary and Roy who are at-large, we all gathered at the Pearl to tuck into the catered Indonesian cuisine to kick off our time of fellowship.

Christmas Party 2007

Small Garoupers Christmas Party

Thanks to the hospitality of Yee Ling and Kwee Peng, the Small Garoupers Christmas Party 2007 was hosted at The Pearl, Mt Faber.

We had generous pours of good wine, hand crafted desserts, top-notch chicken curry in the midst of the unparalleled company of friends. It was especially delightful to be able to meet again with those who have been away from us and the new addition to our fellowship.

Wishing you all* a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Guan's Surprise Birthday Party

With the deft organizational skills of Trisha and everyone's cooperation, Sock and the Small Garoupers managed to pull of the surprise birthday party for Guan which was themed Green and Red.

Planned only a few days prior to the 20th of December, everyone was previously tasked to be in charge of different aspects of the party.

In a nutshell, while Sock and Guan vacated their apartment for breakfast, the Small Garoupers assembled at their place and entered with a spare set of keys which Sock passed to Caleb. They quickly went to work to decorate the apartment and got into position to spring the surprise.

An interesting incident: Wynnie met Gary in the city the day before to hand over the banner at Orchard Cineleisure. When she left Cineleisure, she bumped into none other than Guan at the crossing to Takashimaya. Without spilling the beans, Wynnie cooly had lunch with Guan leaving left him none the wiser.
Was Lim Ee Guan moved to tears?

Dinner at Tasty Wok

We were kindly invited by Gary and his Dad to try out what Tasty Wok has to offer. The new resturant which just opened for business last night is located at the Tangin Mall Food Court. We were greeted with a sumptuous line up of chef recommendations that got us requesting for more rounds, but don't take out word for it, do make a trip down to experience it yourself.
